July 4-5 To Dublin

We had a most uneventful trip here. The United flight to Chicago was about an hour late, but since we had a long layover before the Dublin flight, it didn't matter. Both of our suitcases arrived this time. We decided to try splitting our stuff between the 2 suitcases in case one didn't make it, so of course they both did.  After about a 30 minute wait to get through the immigration line, we caught a taxi to the Travelodge Dublin Airport North Swords about 5 minutes away. It is a completely forgettable place near nothing, but they had a room ready for us which was most welcome.  After a nap for a  couple of hours, we took a walk to clear the cobwebs. Nothing around but a busy traffic circle and an industrial park, but it still felt good to get in the fresh air.  Back to the hotel for a pint (half pint in my case) of Guinness, then an early dinner in the little cafe here, chicken tikka for me, tuna Cobb salad for Michael, both of which were very good.  Our flight tomorrow to Southampton is at 8:30 am and we are told to allow a couple of hours so we'll catch the 6:36 am shuttle bus back to the airport.  I'm sure we'll be awake, but will set the alarm anyway to be sure.
