Today is the start of our journey. We've rented a car at Redmond Airport and will drive over to Portland this afternoon and drop the car there. The one day rental is about $50, which is ridiculous, but cheaper than flying. Since our air was arranged through Trafalgar Tours and they don't have flights out of Redmond (what??), we have to start in Portland. I get nervous about flying over in the morning to catch the 11:00 am flight tomorrow, hence the rental car. We'll stay overnight at the Airport Sheraton using points and be well rested for the long flights. And if $50 seems ridiculous for one day, the return from Portland to Redmond at the end of our trip is about $90!! But again, cheaper than flying.
Tomorrow will be spent flying United to Dublin via Chicago. We arrive in Dublin the morning of July 5 and again will overnight at the airport before our flight to Southampton. Seems like a lot of overnights, but the flight connections just didn't work. Ah well.
